The city has a problem with vacants, and we are told that these properties have no value. Yet housing speculation, supported by the city, moves millions of dollars--exchanged by developers--through these properties without ever entering the community. The problems of our neighborhoods are invisible to the city, and we cannot be left unseen any longer. We need investment in our communities; we need community control of the land and visibility of our demands.
Join us Friday, December 18 for a Vacant Housing Art Takeover to say we are RECLAIMING our COMMUNITY! 11am on the 800 block of N. Patterson Park Avenue.
Housing Our Neighbors will present the findings of the People's Survey of Vacant Housing, and community members will share their stories-- both of the human impact of our city's housing crisis and our vision for community driven development.
Bundle up because the event will be outside!
** Community Art Day! Join us as we paint the art installations this Saturday, Decemer 12 from 12-4pm in the basement of 2640 St. Paul Street.
