September AHTF Meeting and Land Trust Tour

Roundtable members and residents across Baltimore have been strategizing together, organizing and building public expectation around the use of Affordable Housing Trust Fund resources over the last 9 months. Because of each of us organizing our neighbors, gathering postcards, preparing testimony, planning rallies, we have successfully shifted DHCD's approach to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. In May DCCD shared that there would be a Notice of Funding Availability issued this Fall, that they would let us know the criteria and priorities when they finished deciding on them... now we are driving the conversation forward on permanent affordability, race equity, and community control. Because of our organizing, the very first money released from the fund will be $1.5 million for community land trusts. We know that there is still work to be done- but also need to celebrate that our continuous public pressure is what created this breakthrough at DHCD.

Join us for a community-led tour of Charm City Land Trusts' 20 lots of public green space at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 24 at 2424 McElderry Street. After the tour, we will walk over to the September Affordable Housing Trust Fund meeting, hosted at Tench Tilghman Elementary Middle (600 N Patterson). At this meeting we will hear presentations from land trust representatives on their work creating deep affordability and development without displacement.

If you need a ride to help you get to the event, please leave your phone number and address in your RSVP so that we can help! Children are welcome to attend as well. See you there! (Learn more about Charm City Land Trusts here!)
