Fund The Trust Petition Delivery!

After the Fund The Trust Act was introduced this April, members of the Baltimore Housing Roundtable, United Workers, and Baltimore's Community Land Trusts knew that unanimous council support might not be enough to #FundTheTrust- we knew that developer special-interest groups were going to start lobbying against the bill and trying to get it watered down, or killed.

This Summer, all of us sacrificed- spending our weekends and evenings speaking with voters all across the city about the urgent need for permanently affordable housing and Development Without Displacement, gathering petition signatures for the ballot initiative that would mandate funding for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund, whether the Fund The Trust Act passes or not. So far, thousands of voters have joined the call for true democratic decision-making in our City.

Due to mounting pressure from our hard work, Councilperson Sharon Middleton has announced the long-awaited hearing for the Fund The Trust Act (Council Bill 18-0221), on September 27th.

August 13th will be a celebration of the power we have built calling for the City to do its job, to support disinvested, redlined communities' vision for rehabbing vacant and abandoned buildings, creating healthier and safer communities, and ensuring that long-term community members are not displaced by redevelopment.

Please join us to deliver more than 15,000 petitions to City Hall on Monday, August 13th at 12 PM.
